Job Description
Collaborates with Foundation gift officers to design and implement individual giving strategies, engage and motivate donors and prospects through personal contacts and visits and through written proposals.
Oversees the development of a planned giving stewardship program for members in the Farrington-Thompson Society in partnership with donor relations and the executive leadership team of the Foundation.
Promotes endowments, bequests, charitable giving vehicles and other legacy giving strategies to benefit the system through the Foundation. Develops and executes strategic and creative planned giving and marketing pieces, including planned giving newsletter articles, solicitations, PowerPoint presentations and brochures, in collaboration with communications team.
Cultivates relationships with a network of legal and financial planning professionals to refer potential prospects and serve as ambassadors of Texas Health.
Leads the Foundation team and board members in researching and identifying prospective donors to secure planned gifts for the system.
Responsible for training the Foundation team on planned giving strategies and procedures.
Develops and oversees the execution of all planned giving guidelines for the Foundation.
Ensures proper documentation of all planned gifts past and current.
Participates in continuing education to maintain current knowledge on changes in tax laws and other emerging issues in the planned giving field. Analyzes key trends in the legacy and gift planning industry to implement a comprehensive planned giving program.
Education
Bachelor's Degree Required
And
Master's Degree Preferred
Experience
8 Years Demonstrated fundraising experience in planned giving with specialized training in financial and/or estate planning or tax law Preferred
Knowledge of planned giving vehicles, current trends in philanthropy, endowments, donor advised funds and estate and financial planning for individuals, including tax implications on charitable giving. Required
Trust and wealth management experience is a plus.
Licenses and Certifications
CFRE - Certified Fund Raising Executive Upon Hire Preferred
CAP - Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy Upon Hire Preferred
Skills
The Director of Planned Giving will be instrumental in aggressively expanding fundraising potential, and therefore must possess high work standards and give evidence of a successful track record in meeting or exceeding stated goals.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
A collaborative individual who proactively recommends and implements policies and processes with an emphasis on efficiency, consistency, accuracy, and best practices.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively articulate the mission/vision of the Foundation and the entities we represent.
Demonstrated experience in working with individuals who have philanthropic capacity, as well as financial and legal advisors.
An in-depth understanding of gift planning, with deep subject matter knowledge of the various charitable giving tools that can be integrated into a donor's financial and estate planning goals.
